A Neillsville man accused of taking money from a woman to build a home, but never building the home, will spend some time in the county jail.

Richard Harrison Jr., 33, filed no contest pleas to one felony count of theft by a contractor and one felony count of filing fraudulent income tax returns.

According to court records, Harrison accepted $45,000 from a woman who was displaced after a fire destroyed her home. He was to build the shell of a new house, instead, court records show, he used the advance payment to buy a new T.V., furniture, a horse and ATV.

Harrison will spend 343 days in jail, serve six years on probation and pay $52,000 in restitution.
