DOUBLE DIGIT UNEMPLOYMENT IN CLARK CO.

Clark County’s unemployment rate has shot into double digits.
On Thursday, the Department of Workforce Development released their local unadjusted jobless rates for January. They paint a grim picture.
Unemployment rates increased in all 72 Wisconsin counties during the month of January.
Clark County’s unemployment rate is estimated at 10%; that’s 3.2% higher than in December, and 3.4% higher than January of last year.
The last time unemployment reached double-digits here was in 1994.
The county’s ranking also shot up from 31st to 18th highest out of the state’s 72 counties.
While the increase is startling, it’s not the biggest increase in the state. Rock County’s rate jumped 6.2 percentage points to 11.6% over the past year.
