LEGISLATURE PASSES 'REPAIR' BILL
Thursday, February 19th, 2009 -- 11:34 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The Wisconsin Legislature has passed a bill that raises taxes on everything from iPod downloads to corporate income and begins spending federal stimulus money.

The Assembly voted 51-48 on Wednesday night to pass the bill. The Senate passed it earlier in the day.

It now goes to Gov. Jim Doyle, who is expected to sign it by the end of the week.

Democrats who pushed the bill called it a state stimulus package that will work in conjunction with the federal bill.

No Republican in either chamber voted for it.
