MEIER RELEASED FROM JAIL

A man accused in a fatal Neillsville bar fight is free from jail after family members posted his $20,000 cash bail Friday morning.

Clark County Jail personnel confirm 36-year-old Tyler Meier of Shawano is no longer a resident of the facility.

Meier was charged Monday with Aggravated Battery and Disorderly Conduct, but those charges will likely be amended next week to reflect the death of 43-year-old Keith Young.

While autopsy results have not been released, it is speculated Young was knocked unconscious by the blow, and may have hit his head on the floor of the Brickyard Bar and Restaurant. He was hospitalized in critical condition until the time of his death Tuesday morning.

As conditions of his bail, Meier is not to have contact with Young’s wife, is to abstain from consuming alcohol and is to remain at his residence in Shawano between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., unless going directly to or from work or at work.

He is scheduled to be back in Clark County Court on Wednesday for an initial appearance.
