Authorities say a faulty furnace is probably to blame for a carbon monoxide poisoning death near Stratford.

Authorities suspect the carbon monoxide released from the furnace killed 36-year-old Michael Schermetzler.

Five emergency medical technicians were also sickened and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. Their conditions aren’t known.

Carbon Monoxide is the result of combustion. It is odorless and colorless. Experts say homeowners should have carbon monoxide detectors in numerous locations in their house.
