Some Wisconsin veterinarians say they've noticed people skipping appointments to save money as the economy worsens.

Appointment reminders about vaccinations are drawing fewer responses, according to Dr. Teresa Case-Doney of Klondike Kennels in Marshfield.

Pet owners don't mean to be negligent, but they have to make hard choices about spending. She says when pet owners do come in, more are trying to have multiple shots or checks done at once to save on visits. she says.

Wildwood Animal Hospital and Clinic in Marshfield allows people to make payments if they can't pay their full bill, according to Dr. Roger Krogstad.

California-based CareCredit offers no-interest loans to help pay medical and veterinary bills.
