CLARK COUNTY BARS PARTICIPATE IN SAFERIDE

Bar patrons that drink a little too much New Year’s Eve shouldn’t drive home drunk.

Clark County is one of dozens of counties around the state that participate in the Tavern League’s SafeRide program.

Tom Dahlen of the Tavern League says customers who feel they’ve had too much to drink can tell a bartender, who can arrange a ride.

In most local areas, "good samaritans" are used. They are paid to drive people home. If cabs are available, they may also be used.

Statistics show 46 Wisconsin counties participate. 45,000 patrons received rides through the program last year.
