ATV OPERATOR (APPARENTLY) AVOIDS INJURY
Tuesday, December 16th, 2008 -- 11:30 am Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
It appears no one was injured when an ATV broke through the ice on the Black River.
Neillsville Police were called to investigate when a passerby noticed ATV tracks leading to a big hole in the ice cover over the weekend. It was just west of the Grand Avenue Bridge.
According to reports, the ice was about one-and-one-half inches deep; the water was about 3-feet deep.
The officer said it appeared the rider was able to escape.
Experts warn ice conditions this time of year can vary widely and urge caution.
