HIGHGROUND VETERANS DAY

Grey skies, bitterly cold temperatures and a driving sleet were the backdrop for a somber Veterans Day ceremony yesterday at the Highground Veterans Memorial Park just outside of Neillsville.
A small group braved the elements to pay tribute to those men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service of their country.
The names of those missing in action from the Korean War, Vietnam War and the wars in the Middle East were read, as was the growing list of service members killed in action during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Highground is the state’s largest Veterans Memorial Park.
