-The Neillsville Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire in the City of Neillsville yesterday afternoon.

The department received a report of a vehicle fire around 2:30pm on 5th Street in front of Associated Bank. The vehicle in question was a paper shredding truck and it appears a stone or battery went through the shredder and started the shredded paper on fire. The department was able to put the fire out and drove the truck to the compost area. They dumped the paper and extinguished any remaining smoldering areas in the paper.

The department was on scene for 40 minutes, they had no injuries, the shredding truck wasn’t damaged and they received mutual aid from the Neillsville Police Department and the Neillsville Public Works Department.
