There remains a lot of mystery surrounding the death of a Marshfield High School teacher killed by a freight train.

37-year-old Troy Schmitt's minivan was crushed on railroad tracks near Auburndale.

An autopsy shows he was alive when he was struck. But, the Wood County coroner has not ruled whether his death was accidental, homicide or suicide.

The coroner says evidence doesn’t seem to support suicide.

Schmitt had purchased carpeting for a home project he was planning to complete the weekend after his death. Also, Green Bay Packers lineman Mark Tauscher, a childhood friend, was planning to visit the following weekend during the team's bye week.

The coroner says Schmitt had a couple of drinks at a fish fry with friends the night he was struck and killed.
