-A Neillsville man was arrested in Eau Claire County after a high speed chase Thursday afternoon.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, a trooper tried to stop a vehicle on Highway 53 near County Highway HH in Eau Claire County just after 2pm on Thursday for traveling 70mph in a 55mph zone. The vehicle, driven by 42-year-old Douglass Polzin of Neillsville, fled the scene and traveled down several different county and town roads with speeds reaching over 95mph. The vehicle eventually crashed into a ditch and Polzin fled on foot. He was apprehended a short while later.

A records check indicated that Polzin’s driver’s license was revoked and that he had ten warrants for his arrest which were confirmed active and valid. Polzin was incarcerated at the Eau Claire County Jail. As a result of this incident, Polzin is being charged with felony eluding, recklessly endangering safety while operating a motor vehicle, speeding, failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is also being held on the warrants.
