MSTC APPROVES TAX INCREASE

An area technical college is increasing tax rates.
The Mid-State Technical College board, which covers parts of several area counties, including southeastern Clark County, approved a tax rate of $1.47 per $1,000 of equalized value during its monthly meeting last night in Marshfield.
That’s a very slight increase from the current year’s budget.
The total levy approved by the board was about $18.7 million.
Total expenditures are up 3.2 percent.
Officials said the bad economy is actually helping enrollment.
