A new poll shows Barack Obama has widened his lead over John McCain in Wisconsin following last week's debate.

The Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday shows that Obama was leading McCain 51% to 43% before the debate. Another poll taken after the debate shows Obama's lead has grown to 54%. McCain drops to 37%.

That 17-point margin is the largest lead ever recorded in this election cycle for Obama in Wisconsin.

Obama is also ahead in three other states where Quinnipiac polled, including Minnesota, Colorado and Michigan.

The polls were done between Oct. 3 and Oct. 7. The latest poll had a margin of error was 2.8%.
