PEDESTRIAL KILLED IN ACCIDENT NORTH OF MEDFORD

The Taylor County Sheriff's Department is investigating a crash that left a pedestrian dead near Medford Sunday night.
Dispatch received a call about 8:30 p.m. of a person in dark clothes running in the northbound lane of traffic on State Highway 13 just north of the City of Medford.
About a five minutes later, dispatch received a call from a driver who said he had just struck a person matching that description near on the highway near Correction Lane.
Emergency crews from Taylor County and Medford responded to the scene.
The victim, Matthew Matias, 20, was transported to Memorial Health Center in Medford and later pronounced dead.
Authorities do not suspect foul play, but they are continuing to investigate.
