FAMILY HEALTH EXPO SATURDAY

The terms "free" or "reduced price" aren't often used when talking about health care these days, but they will be this weekend in Neillsville.
For the 2nd summer in a row, Memorial Medical Center is holding their Family Health Expo.
"This is an attempt to get an answer for people who are stuck between either having no insurance, or their deductible is so high, that essentially they don't have insurance coverage," explains Lora Wagner of MMC, "And even people that may have insurance, but don't take the opportunity to make health care a priority."
The event features free screenings, reduced price labs and plenty of information booths.
It's popular. MMC had 64 openings for full physical screenings; they are all taken.
However, they are also offering a comprehensive lab work-up for $50.
"You do need to fast for 10-12 hours," Wagner notes, "The labs would typically run you between $300 and $400, we're offering it for $40."
The labs will screen for cholesterol, blood-sugar, thyroid function, kidney, thyroid and liver function and prostrate specific antigen (PSA).
The Family Health Expo starts at 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
