Things were icy and dicey Tuesday night in Southern Clark County as flooding forced the rescue of an individual whose home was surrounded by water.

A several mile ice jam on the Black River south of Highway 95 has caused serious flooding, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Flood Warning for Clark County.

Jennifer Lord Kourachi of Clark County’s Emergency Management Department says the situation remained dangerous Wednesday morning.

"This ice jam is causing localized flooding along the Black River south of Highway 95," Lord-Kourachi said, "We have some cabins that have several feet of water on their first floor."

Thankfully, their were no injuries, but last night authorities had to rescue a person from their water-surrounded home.

"Their home was surrounded by fast-moving water. The Hatfield Fire Department got a boat from Jackson County and was able to rescue the individual," Lord-Kourachi explained.

Resewood Avenue south of Highway 95 was closed Wednesday morning. Lord-Kourachi is urging motorists not attempt to cross roads with standing water.
