FORMER NEILLSVILLE WOMAN CHARGED IN O.D. DEATH

A 26-year-old Eau Claire woman, formerly from Neillsville, has been charged with providing drugs that killed a 30-year-old woman earlier this month.

Police say Lisa Gannigan was found dead in her Eau Claire home July 11 with a needle and syringe containing fentanyl and methadone.
Tiffany Shubert was charged Thursday with first-degree reckless homicide in Eau Claire County Court.

Shubert was charged under Wisconsin's Len Bias law, which allows authorities to prosecute people who supply drugs that contribute to an overdose death.

The law is named after the 1980s college basketball star who died of a drug overdose after being drafted by the Boston Celtics.

A criminal complaint says a friend told investigators Shubert gave Gannigan pills and injected her with a controlled substance at least once.
