ROCK WTHDRAWS FROM OLYMPIC TRIALS
Monday, June 30th, 2008 -- 8:36 am Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
Tough luck for Stratford-native and Olympic hopeful Andrew Rock.
He failed to make the U.S. Olympic team after withdrawing from his 400-meter quarterfinal heat on Sunday.
It's not clear why Rock withdrew from the qualifying run.
Rock won gold in Athens in 2004 as part of the 4-by-400 relay team, he followed that up with a silver medal at the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005, but he had said his ultimate was goal was making the 2008 team in the 400 meters.
Meanwhile, St. Point-native Chris Solinski qualified for the finals in the 5,000-meter run and will attempt to make the U.S. Olympic team this evening.
