DENTAL CLINIC COMING TO NEILLSVILLE

$6-million in government funding will be used to construct a new dental facility in Neillsville.
That announcement was made at a meeting last night.
$3-million for the project was included in the state budget; another $3-million is coming from the Federal government. Those monies will begin a 10,000-square foot dental clinic that will cater to lower-income residents.
Rep. Scott Suder told members of Neillsville's Planning Commission, Economic Development Commission and City Council that dental care concerns topped the list of constituent complaints.
"You don't hear a lot about it, but it's the number one call we get in our office," Suder said, "It is a serious crisis. If this population is not served, they end up in the emergency room with a whole host of other afflictions, and taxpayers end up paying for it."
The new facility will employ 20 to 30 people and will serve residents in a 40-mile radius, Suder said.
According to an official commitment approved last night, a partnership including the City of Neillsville, Suder, Memorial Medical Center and Family Health Center of Marshfield will work toward establishing the facility.
Murphy will work with local property owners to find the most cost effective site.
Suder said he hoped ground could be broken sometime around fall of this year.

The groups also approved a $50,000 loan for NICON Too LLC, a group of local investors hoping to purchase Leeson's south building.
And the groups made an offer to purchase around 10 acres of land south of the current OEM facility in the Industrial Park. If the deal goes through, the land will be put aside for future Industrial Park development.
