A Portage County sheriff's deputy is ordered to stand trial for an accident that killed an 18-year-old girl.
Deputy Ken Tschudy faces a charge of homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle in the crash that fatally injured Mindy Erickson of Linwood.
Authorities say the 54-year-old deputy was responding to a report of a hit & run accident in Plover last Oct. 29 when he went through a red light at a Stevens Point intersection and collided with the victim's vehicle.
An accident reconstructionist estimated at Thursday's preliminary hearing that Tschudy was going about 52 mph, or twice the posted limit.
