So, you're complaining because gas is nearly $3.30 per gallon, imagine how truckers must feel.

Diesel is over $4.00 and semi tractors only get between 5 and 7 miles per gallon.

"As costs increase, it does affect the bottom line of our business," explains Gregg Koepel, vice president of Roehl Transport based in Marshfield, "It requires us to be extremely cost-conscious. We don't always have the ability to pass those costs on to our customers."

Roehl employs around 1,800 drivers. Koepel says they aren't laying anyone off, and are still hiring, despite the fuel prices and the downturn in the economy.

"The country moves largely by truck. People still need to consumer goods," Koepel notes, "We're in a down economy right now, but we're still out there."

The average tractor holds around 190 gallons of fuel. That means it would cost around $760 to fill up.
