NO APRIL REFERENDUM FOR LOYAL
Thursday, January 17th, 2008 -- 12:19 pm
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

Loyal school district residents will not be faced with a revenue cap exemption referendum on April 1st.

After an attempt to consolidate the Loyal and Greenwood districts failed in November, school officials noted a cap exemption referendum would be likely.

Superintendent Graeme Williams says the board moved to table the issue at a meeting Wednesday night, determining there wasn't enough time to "sell" the issue to district residents.

Williams says a referendum is possible in the fall and probable within the next year.

The district is facing a projected deficit of $300,00 to $400,000 in the 2008-2009 school year.
