Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The Neillsville Police Department is alerting the public that a "level 3" sex offender may be moving to the city.

23-year-old Hector Espino is slated for release from prison on December 11.

Espino was found guilty of the crimes of 1st-degree sexual assault of a child and 3rd-degree sexual assault.

Espino is an illegal immigrant who was granted an asylum hearing with Immigration and Customs Enforcement Bureau. This hearing will be held in Chicago after his release from prison.

Police Chief Brad Lindner says, if he is granted asylum, he will be transported to our area where he'll reside at the Old Merchant's Hotel in downtown Neillsville.

If he's not granted asylum, he'll be deported back to Mexico.
