INVESTIGATION ONGOING IN ALLEGED THEFT FROM LAWMAKER

It's been nearly two months, but charges have yet to be filed against a woman who a state lawmaker claims stole his money and broke into his home.

State Representative Scott Suder (R-Abbotsford) claims Lisa Brabazon, with whom he was romantically involved, obtained $1,400 through the unauthorized use of his credit cards, and forged his name on checks, obtaining $1,800 from his bank accounts.

Colby-Abbotsford Police Chief Ron Gosse says they continue to investigate the allegations against Brabazon. He says the investigation has taken longer than expected because detectives have been waiting for credit card companies to send them documentation. He's hopeful they'll be able to send the case to the District Attorney next week.

Last month, Circuit Court Judge Jon Counsell ruled Brabazon's actions constituted harassment and granted a 4-year restraining order against her.
