CRANDON SHOOTING ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

It's been over a week, and the Northwoods community of Crandon is still burying victims after an off-duty officer shot and killed six young people on October 6.

The alleged shooting at a homecoming pizza party was the result of a relationship gone bad.

Lori Tully with the Clark County Domestic Outreach Project says domestic violence doesn't just take place between married couples.

"Boyfreind-girlfriend, even people that have just been on a date once, it's very common," Tully explains.

Authorities say 20-year-old Tyler Peterson went to his ex-girlfriend's home trying to patch up a relationship.

Jealousy and not taking "no" for an answer are the types of behavior that sometimes indicate bad things may happen, according to Tully.

"If you find that your significant other is jealous of anybody you look at, somebody you work, constantly asking who you are talking to, going to your workplace, following you, flies off the handle."

Mentally, some victims of domestic violence feel they can't get out of bad relationships. Tully says friends should talk to victims and offer support.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
