TIME RUNNING OUT FOR REFERENDUM

Time is running out for a Clark County resident trying to force a referendum that would reduce the size of the County Board.

Back in late July, Pete Hellios of Granton filed an “Intent to Circulate Petitions” with the County Clerk’s office.

In order to force a referendum, he needed to collect over 1,400 signatures in 60 days. The deadline is next Monday, but the petition has not been returned.

The referendum would cut the County Board from 29 members to 14.

At a meeting in July, the Clark County Board showed very little interest in voluntarily cutting the size of the Board.
