$2.50 PER GALLON? GAS PRICE HARD TO PREDICT

Gas prices are holding steady, but a Springtime spike could be just around the corner. Triple-A Wisconsin's Mike Bie says the average cost for a gallon of gas is just shy of two bucks. The all time record high in the state, recorded last June, was $2.13 per gallon. "We know that, come springtime, gas prices spike," says Bie. "And, they typically spike an average of 20 cents or so, so we're looking at prices that could potentially be setting new records this spring." One big driver of gas prices is of course, demand, but Bie says lower than projected demand this Spring won't necessarily mean lower prices. As always, Bie counsels keeping your vehicle in tip top condition, so as not to waste fuel. "Something as simple as (underinflated) tires could have big impact on fuel economy. So make sure your vehicle is operating as efficiently as possible, and you'll be getting the best gas mileage possible."
