ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Patience is a virtue… especially during road construction season.

Neillsville Public Works Director Dave Flynn is hoping drivers use more patience and caution as the DOT improves the Highway 10/Grand Avenue intersection this summer. There have been some problems during the first week of construction.

“(Drivers) are taking shortcuts, not following detour routes… tractor trailers having problems getting around,” Flynn explains. “We expect some of the those problems.”

Specifically, some have tried to avoid detours by using private property to cut across the work zone.

“Respect the gas station and car wash and use the detours,” Flynn encourages. “They can use city streets. It’s pretty clustered up there. We just don’t want anyone to get hurt.”

And Flynn says people should get used to the construction, the project could last around two months. Built in 1993, an average of 9,300 vehicles travel the stretch of highway daily. These are the road's first improvements.
