Neillsville's Streak At 53 Straight in ECC Play

The Neillsville girls basketball team won their 53rd straight in Eastern Cloverbelt play with a 62-33 win over Loyal on Tuesday night.

The Warriors got out to a 14-2 first quarter lead behind 6 points in the quarter from Katelyn Crothers. Neillsville outscored the Greyhounds in the second quarter 17-8 to take a 31-10 lead into the locker room at the half. Crothers led Neillsville with 12 points while Jenny Lindner added 10.

The second half was closer especially in the 3rd quarter where Neillsville only outscored Loyal 12-11. Loyal's Taylre Wilke hit a couple of three's in the quarter while Neillsville's Sierra Bethea had 5 points.

In the 4th quarter, Lindner had 7 points and the Warriors outscored the Greyhounds 19-12 to get the win and improve to 2-0 overall on the season.

Lindner led all scorers with 20 points, Crothers added 16 for the Warriors. Freshman Morgan Reinwand led Loyal with 12 points, while fellow freshman Karsyn Rueth added 9 points.

Neillsville is at Augusta on Friday night while Loyal will host Gilman.
