JENSEN CASE DELAYED
Wednesday, May 24th, 2006 -- 1:20 pm
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

As anticipated, the potential reopening of a major Clark County court case was delayed Tuesday.

Michael Mandelman, an attorney representing Wayne Jensen, is losing his law license and appears headed off the case.

Back in July of 2003, Jensen detonated a homemade bomb planted in the vehicle of his wife’s ex-husband as the man and his then-finance were traveling to Neillsville on Highway 73. Both were sent to the hospital.

Jensen is currently serving a prison sentence for his role in the bombing, but Clark County District Attorney Darwin Zwieg wants the case reopened, claiming the Neillsville-area man reneged on a plea deal.

At a hearing on Tuesday, Mandelman told Clark County Circuit Court Judge Jon Counsell he’s submitting a motion to withdraw from the case. He said he would work with the State Public Defender’s Office to find a replacement.

Counsell will review the status of the case in June.
