A 52-year-old Black River Falls canoeist is missing and presumed drowned.

On Friday, a person reported finding a canoe floating on the Upper Black River. Inside, there was a small dog and camping gear.

Authorities later learned the canoeist was dropped off at the boat launch area near the Black River Falls Dam and had planned to canoe on the river and camp overnight.

The boat was found about three miles from the launching area.

Dive teams searched Friday and Saturday but they now believe the man drowned and is presumed dead. No foul play is suspected.
